Nasi Padang

Makanan Singapura does nasi padang with about a dozen selection of dishes available, home cooked style flavours in smaller portions. Shown above is rice with beef rendang, curry chicken, begedil and fried egg.

The beef rendang is quite soft and tender with very nicely flavoured rendang sauce. It is very popular and only a small pot of it is available. I was there at just before noon and managed to get the very last bit. It is not even a full portion, more like a half portion. The people before me are all getting it, and it is good. Highly recommended.

As for the curry chicken, it is tender and slightly spicy. The curry does not have coconut milk flavours and tastes a bit like assam curry without the soury tastes. Quite nice. The begedil has decent flavours with a light crispiness coating outside and soft potato filling inside. As for the fried egg, sunny side up with runny yolk and crispy whites. Just the way I like it. Nice!
