Pin Wei Hong Kong Style Chee Cheong Fun does Hong Kong style chee cheong fun like those served in congee stores in Hong Kong. Instead of steaming on a metal tray, these are steamed on a piece of cloth just like in Hong Kong. However the chee cheong fun are still rolled up on a metal tray laden with oil instead of rolling up in the cloth, making the chee cheong fun oilier than the ones in Hong Kong.

The chee cheong fun is quite smooth and soft, served on a plate with sweet soya sauce and topped with sesame seeds. A dollop of optional dried shrimped flavoured chilli paste is added to the side.

Seen here are the prawn and char siew chee cheong fun. The prawn chee cheong fun contains small whole prawns that is decently fresh and tastes nice. The char siew chee cheong fun contains small char siew bits that is meaty and tastes slightly sweet. Both are nice.

Although the chee cheong fun is quite similar to the ones in Hong Kong, it is lacking the sweet sauce and peanut sauce usually served alongside with the chee cheong fun in Hong Kong. However for Singapore’s standard, this chee cheong fun is pretty good and definitely likeable. Thumbs up.
