Tiong Bahru Market Singapore

Tiong Bahru Tau Suan

serves a trio of traditional desserts – tau suan, pulut hitam and bubur terigu. All with lovely flavours.

Tau Suan

This tau suan has soft mung beans in a sweet and slightly sticky soup. It is fairly thick with nice flavours. It is topped with pieces of chewy you tiao. This serving of tau suan is nice.

Pulut Hitam

The pulut hitam has soft black glutinous rice cooked with palm sugar and topped with coconut milk. It is decently thick and has a slightly sweet taste. I am unsure, but it seems to have a faint hint of dried mandarin peel in its flavours too. This pulut hitam tastes good to me.

Bubur Terigu

This bubur terigu has lightly sweet flavours and rather thick. Its wheat is cooked until it is really soft. The bubur terigu is topped with coconut milk. Mixed together it has nice sweet flavours with a note of savoury from the coconut milk. Tastes lovely!
