Ngo Hiang

Chinatown Zhong Zhong Fine Spice serves a selection of ngo haing pieces with fried mee hoon. Seen above is their ngo hiang, prawn cracker, flat fish cake and water chestnut egg cake, served with a plate of fried mee hoon and a chilli sauce dip.

First off, the ngo hiang. It has a nice lightly crispy wrapper with soft filling. I can actually taste yam and meat bits. It is good. Recommended. Next, the prawn cracker. It has a nice crispy flour batter and crispy prawns. A tad oily but still nice and likeable. The flat fish cake has savoury flavours with crispy outsides and soft insides. Rather nice too. As for the water chestnut egg cake, it has lightly crispy outsides and soft insides. It actually contains water chestnut bits that you can taste. This one is good as well. Recommended too.

The serving of ngo hiang pieces comes with a small bowl of limey tasting chilli dip. It has grated peanuts and chopped onions toppings. The onion bits are a really nice touch!

The optional fried mee hoon has a nice dry texture. It is flavourful with light savoury tastes and a faint note of sweet. It is quite a nice accompaniment to the ngo hiang pieces.

This ngo hiang is definitely a good one. Truly enjoyable.
