Minced Meat & Fishball Noodles

Zhang Xin Teochew Fishball Minced Meat Noodle does the usual choices of fishball and minced meat noodles. Seen here is their minced meat fish dumpling noodles with mee pok chosen for its noodles and fishballs added.

This serving of mee pok comes with a bit of everything: pork slices, pork liver slices, minced meat, meatballs, fishballs, fish cake slices and fish dumplings. These are served with tossed mee pok noodles and a bowl of nicely flavoured soup.

Both the lean meat pork slices and pork liver slices are firm and meaty, and the pork liver has a slightly gamey taste. The minced meat bits is soft and meaty.

The fishball is soft yet springy and it is rather smooth with nice flavourings. The fish cake, too, is smooth and quite flavourful. As for the fish dumpling, it is soft and smooth with nice savoury tastes.

The tossed mee pok is fairly smooth and springy with decent flavours. It is topped with some chopped spring onions. A nice touch, some savoury tasting ikan bilis are added to it. However the ikan bilis is no longer crispy and a bit tough. Still, this serving of mee pok tastes rather nice and likeable.
