Lor Mee

86 Lor Mee serves lor mee with several selections available. Seen above is their signature lor mee which comes with braised egg, braised pork belly, fish roll, spring roll, fish nuggets, fried prawns, wanton and chicken cutlet.

The lor mee uses thick yellow noodles and comes with some bean sprouts in a nice starchy gravy. The gravy has really nice flavours and it contains tiny bits of braised meat. Included in the bowl is a piece of fish roll, some braised pork belly and half a braised egg,

The braised pork belly is soft and meaty with some fatty parts. The braised egg has nice braised flavours, and the fish roll is firm and springy with nice savoury flavours.

A very nice touch, all the fried pieces are served separately on a plate. A handful of items are given: fried spring roll, fried prawns, fried fish nuggets, a slice of chicken cutlet and fried wanton.

The fried spring roll has a nicely flavoured yam and meat filling with a crispy skin wrapper. The fried prawn has a nice crispy breaded crust with soft prawn meat inside. Likewise for the fried fish nugget, crispy batter outside with soft fish meat inside. The fried chicken cutlet has a crispy breaded crust with soft and moist meat and nice flavours. As for the fried wanton, it has a crispy skin but can’t taste its filling though.

This is a hearty serving of lor mee and very enjoyable too. It is definitely one of the better ones in Singapore. Both thumbs up!
