Cai Png

Lai Heng Economical Mixed Veg Rice serves cai png with a large selection of mains and sides. Seen above is with sweet and sour pork, fried fish with lemon sauce, stir fried bean sprouts and scambled fried eggs, served with rice and curry.

First, the sweet and sour pork. The sweet and sour pork comes with cubes of deep fried pork, cucumber and pineapple in a sweet and mildly soury tasting sauce. The pork is meaty, however its batter is soft and no longer crispy. Tastes decent though. Next, the fried fish with lemon sauce. The fried fish has soft fish meat with a slightly crispy fried batter coating. It is glazed with a slightly sweet tasting lemon sauce. Tastes decent as well. For the stir fried bean sprouts, it comes with some bits of carrot shreds. It is crunchy, moist and flavourful. As for the scrambled fried eggs, it comes with tiny bits of chye poh giving it a nice savoury taste. These are all served with a plate of rice with a slightly spicy curry sauce added.

At the time of visit, this serving of cai png containing 2 meats and 2 vegetables costs just $3,00 SGD. Its price is truly economical. Serving portions and tastes are rather decent too. What is there not to like about it? Thumbs up!
