Mee Hoon Kueh

The mee hoon kueh has firm and springy noodles served in a bowl of nicely flavoured soup. It comes with some soft and meaty minced meat, a raw egg and some vegetables. Some crispy ikan bilis and fried shallots are added as toppings, however they turn soft rather quickly while soaking in the soup.

This bowl of mee hoon kueh is just decent.

Zha Jiang Mian

The zha jiang mian comes with shredded cucumber, carrot, minced pork, bean sprouts and peanuts served on top of a bowl of la mian.

The minced meat contains some mushroom bits and has nice braised flavours. The peanuts is crunchy. The noodles is somewhat soft, but it contrasts quite nicely with the crunchy vegetables and peanuts. Comes served with some fried chilli on the side.

This serving of zha jiang mian has rather decent tastes.

Dumplings

The dumplings are available either fried or boiled. The fried dumpling has a crispy and chewy skin and the boiled dumpling has a firm and chewy skin. Both has a decently flavoured meat and vegetables filling. Tastes decent.

Ngo Hiang & Fried Mee Hoon

An assortment of ngo hiang pieces is available as well. Above is with ngo hiang, fish cake, water chestnut egg cake and crispy prawn cracker with a plate of fried mee hoon.

The ngo hiang is crispy outside with a soft flavourful filling containing meaty bits, water chestnut and some yam. The faint note of yam is nice! The fish cake is teochew style with tiny bits of chilli and spring onion. It is fairly smooth and springy with a nice savoury taste. The water chestnut egg cake is crispy outside, tastes a little bit sweet and has nice tones of water chestnut flavours. The crispy prawn cracker has a nice crispy flour batter with tiny crispy prawns. Tastes nice too.

The fried mee hoon is an optional add-on. It has a nice dry texture with some bean sprouts. The fried mee hoon has light flavours of savoury and sweet. It is rather nice too. On the side is a slightly limey and slightly sweet tasting chilli dip with some grated peanuts, and it pairs well with the various ngo hiang prices.

This serving of ngo hiang and fried mee hoon is nice. I like it.
