Mutton Briyani

This mutton briyani comes with a serving of mutton and a choice of vegetables and curry potato is chosen.

The small pieces of mutton is fairly soft and meaty, with a slightly gamey taste and its gravy is savoury tasting. The curry potato is rather flavourful with a slight tint of spiciness. As for the rice, it is firm and flavourful with a nice scent and taste of coconut milk which is rather likeable. An optional mildly sweet tasting chilli paste can be added to the side.

I have never been to Kerala nor know how their briyani tastes like, hence I do not know how authentic this is to Kerala’s flavours. However, based on my own ignorant tastebuds, this briyani is rather decent. I like its fragrant and flavourful rice. The mutton is a tad on the savoury side though.

Nasi Lemak

Besides briyani, coconut rice is available as well. Above is with fried egg, chicken wing and otah, and some sweet corn is served on the aside.

The coconut rice is firm, and fairly fragrant and flavourful with nice scent and taste of coconut milk. The fried egg is pretty normal, and the fried chicken wing has a crispy batter with moist meat and nice seasoning flavours. The otah is firm and tastes decent. The addition of sweet corn gives a nice layer of sweetness to the dish. An optional mildly sweet tasting chilli paste is also provided on the side.

As I am totally unaware of how Kerala coconut rice tastes like, I do not know how authentic this is. However if I am to treat this like a plate of nasi lemak, it is actually quite decent.
