Yong Tau Foo.

Hong Sheng Yong Tau Fu offers a range of yong tau foo pieces served with a choice of noodles in dry, soap or with laksa gravy. Shown above is an assortment of yong tau foo pieces served in a bowl of pleasantly flavoured soup with mee hoon.

The teochew fish cake is smooth and springy with tiny bits of spring onions and chilli in its fish paste. The soft and smooth fried teochew fishball, likewise, has tiny bits of spring onions and chilli in its fish paste. The tau pok is soft with a springy fish paste filling sandwiched in between, while the fried tofu is soft with a chewy deep-fried skin and a meaty topping. Both the fish ngo hiang and lonster ball are soft and has nice flavours. An optional dried shrimp flavoured chilli paste and sweet sauce are provided on the side.

This bowl of yong tau foo soup mee hoon tastes not bad.

Yong Tau Foo Laksa.

The yong tau foo is also available in laksa version with an option to deep-fried the yong tau foo pieces.

The flat tau kee is crispy and flaky, while the nicely flavoured tau kee roll is crispy with a soft fish paste filling. The flat fish cake is firm and springy with nice flavours and a crispy skin. The fried dumpling has a crispy skin wrapping a savoury flavoured meaty filling, while the savoury meatball is juicy and meaty with a light crisp. The tau pok, soaking in the laksa sauce, is flavourful and it has a soft meat paste filling. As for the laksa gravy, it is flavourful with mixtures of spicy, lightly sweet and mild savoury, with tiny dried shrimp bits.

This serving of yong tau foo laksa tastes rather likeable.
