Wanton Mee

Lucky Wanton Noodle does a few variations of wanton mee with different combinations of various ingredients. Shown here is their wanton mee with both soup wanton and fried wanton served with a plate of char siew noodles.

This plate of wanton mee comes with noodles that are mixed in a black sauce seasoning and with slices of char siew, some vegetables and a couple of fried wanton. The noodles has a very nice springy texture and black sauce seasoning is a bit on the salty side though.

Lean meat char siew is used here. It has a mild sweet taste but the meat is rather dry and tough. It is a bit of a let down and the weakest part in this wanton mee.

The fried wanton is crispy with nicely flavoured meat fillings. Likewise for the soup wanton, soft skin outside with soft and nicely flavoured fillings inside. The soup contains soya beans and has a nice savoury taste with mild ikan bilis flavours.

Besides the disappointing char siew, this wanton mee is actually quite likeable. My suggestion is to skip the char siew and go for all wanton. Both the soup and fried versions of the wanton are pretty good choices.
