Ngo Hiang

Ming Fa Shou Shi offers a wide assortment of housemade ngo hiang pieces. The above assortment includes: ngo hiang, crispy prawn cracker, bean sprouts prawn cake, fishball and water chestnut cake. Accompanying the ngo hiang is a plate of fried mee hoon, which is an optional add-on.

The ngo hiang has a crispy skin encasing a soft and meaty filling that is flavourful with hints of yam. The crispy prawn cracker has a crispy flour batter and has nice flavours. The bean sprouts prawn cake features a crispy dough topped with a piece of crispy prawn, and has soft insides containing some bean sprouts. All these tastes nice!

The fishball is huge, firm and springy, and tastes decent. The water chestnut cake has lightly crispy outsides and soft insides filled with crunchy water chestnut bits. It has nice water chestnut flavours with a mild note of sweetness, and tastes good.

A bowl of slightly limey and slightly sweet tasting chilli sauce is served on the side, and it pairs quite well with the various ngo hiang pieces.

The fried mee hoon has a nice dry texture, and it contains some bean sprouts. Its savoury flavours taste nice.

Overall, the assortment of ngo hiang pieces and fried mee hoon is quite enjoyable.
