Nyonya Nasi Lemak

The nyonya nasi lemak set shown above comes with a piece of lemongrass chicken thigh, half a boiled egg, peanuts, sambal ikan bilis and a side of achar, served with blue-tinted blue pea rice.

The lemongrass chicken is a whole chicken thigh, which is soft and meaty with a crispy and flavourful skin attached. It also comes some bits of fried flour which is soft, but flavourful, along with some crispy fried leaves. It is nice.

The peanuts are crunchy, while the sambal ikan bilis comes with pieces of soft ikan bilis and slivers of onions. The achar is crunchy, and adds a refreshing note with its limey flavours. The blue pea rice has a firm texture, is fragrant and flavourful.

This serving of nyonya nasi lemak is quite enjoyable.

Chee Cheong Fun

The chee cheong fun served here has a unique twist. Instead of the usual sauces, the dish features a minced meat mushroom sauce. The chee cheong fun itself has a rather smooth texture. The minced meat mushroom sauce has nice flavours, and contains tiny meaty bits with soft mushroom slices. It pairs really well with the chee cheong fun.

On the side, some sweet sauce and chopped green chilli are provided. However the sweetness from the sweet sauce can overpower the delicate flavours of the minced meat mushroom sauce. Personally, I like the chee cheong fun with just the minced meat mushroom sauce, which is a perfect combination that tastes good!
