Penang Prawn Mee.

The prawn noodle features small shrimps, fish cake, pork slices, and half a braised egg, served with a mixture of mee hoon, yellow noodles and bean sprouts, in a bowl of tasty prawn-flavoured soup.

The shrimps are small and taste alright. The fish cake slices are smooth and springy, while the pork slices are firm and meaty. The braised egg is firm and tastes decent. The prawn mee is topped with fried shallots, pork lard and an optional subtle limey-tasing chilli paste.

This bowl of prawn mee tastes nice, especially its flavourful prawn soup.

Braised Sauce Noodle.

The braised sauce noodle has a nicely flavoured and starchy braised with a mildly sweet undertone. It comes with fish cake, pork slices, small shrimps, and half a braised egg, served with a mixture of yellow noodles, mee hoon, bean sprouts, vegetables and topped with fried shallots and an optional chilli paste. The braised sauce noodle taste rather nice too.

Assam Laksa.

The assam laksa features thick fat strands of mee hoon, served in a spicy broth with limey undertones. It contains sweet pineapple slices, crunchy shreds pf onion and cucumber, and tiny bits of soft fish meat. The assam laksa is topped with chopped cabbage and a slightly sweet prawn paste sauce. Tastes not bad.

Penang Fried Kway Teow.

The woodleigh outlet serves penang fried kway teow as well. The kway teow used is the thin type. It is wok-fried with bean sprouts and egg, with fish cake, lap cheong and prawns added.

The fish cake is smooth and springy, while the lap cheong is firm with a light sweet taste. The prawns are small but taste decently fresh. The fried kway teow is pleasantly flavoured with a subtle note of wok hei. Not bad.
