Minced Meat Fishball Noodles
Lao Cai Shi Minced Meat Noodles serves minced meat and fishball noodles with the usual choice of noodles. Seen above is their signature noodles with mee pok and with fried wanton added as an extra.
This signature mee pok comes with fishballs, fish cake slices, fish dumpling, prawn, minced meat and mushroom slices with some vegetables. The mee pok is mixed in a vinegar, chilli and lard based seasoning, and is fairly springy.
Both the fishball and fish cake has a nice savoury taste, is soft and lightly springy. The fish dumpling is soft and smooth with nice flavours without a slimy texture. The prawn is rather juicy and the minced pork is soft and moist. For the mushroom slices, it is soft and tastes quite nice too. The fried wanton has nice flavours with a crispy skin but its skin is a bit on the hard side and isn’t fluffy and airy. Comes with a small bowl of savoury flavoured soup on the side. This mee pok is decently nice.
