Queenstown Lontong

does really nice lontong, mee rebus, nasi lemak and mee soto. Their begedil is amazingly good!

Lontong

Queenstown Lontong is a very popular stall formerly from Tanglin Halt Food Centre.

The namesake lontong at Queenstown Lontong is nice! The lontong compressed rice is quite soft inside. It is served with tofu, hard boiled egg, a piece of mildly crispy fried tofu in a plate filled with a delicious vegetables curry gravy and topped with fried coconut flakes and a dried shrimp flavoured sambal chilli. The begedil shown in the picture are an extra add-on.

The gravy is a light curry that is mildly spicy with slightly sweet flavours and fragrant coconut milk tastes. Really nice when mixed with the fried coconut flakes and sambal. This is definitely a very likeable plate of lontong.

Mee Rebus

I noticed quite a number of people in the queue at Queenstown Lontong ordering mee rebus with extra begedil added and decided to try this for myself, and it is really good!

This mee rebus comes with a hard boiled egg and fried tofu with yellow noodles and bean sprouts served in a plate of tasty mee rebus gravy. The gravy tastes lovely, with flavours of dried shrimps and a mildly sweet taste. The begedil has a crispy egg coating outside and nicely flavoured soft mashed potato filling inside. Definitely a very tasty mee rebus and the extra begedil is a must!

Nasi Lemak

Queenstown Lontong also sells old school flavoured nasi lemak which is yet another crowd favourite. I am lucky to have bought the last plate here for the day. This nasi lemak comes with fried chicken wing, hard boiled egg, fried tofu, chicken nugget and ikan bilis served on a plate of fragrant coconut milk rice and sambal chilli. Extra begedil is added.

The rice is fragrant with nice coconut milk flavours, but it is a but soft though. The ikan bilis is very cripsy with nice savoury tastes. The fried chicken wing has nice flavours, is crispy outside and moist inside. The fried tofu, hard boiled egg and chicken nugget are your regular stuff. As for the sambal chilli, it is the traditional spicy type with a mild sweet taste and ikan bilis! Very nice!

And have I mentioned about the begedil? It is simply amazing. Nice crispy egg coating outside, nicely flavoured soft potato filling inside with a slightly sweet taste of nutmeg. This is a highly recommended add-on.

Mee Soto

Queenstown Lontong also serves mee soto which comes with shredded chicken meat served with yellow noodles and bean sprouts in a mild spicy soup. As usual with extra begedil added. The soup tastes nice, however the chicken meat is a bit tough. The begedil soaked in the soup tastes wonderful. Not as good as the above three dishes but still likeable.
