Roast Chicken, Roast Pork & Char Siew
Tong Kee Chicken Rice is a popular chicken rice stall, formerly from Tanglin Halt Food Centre, selling roast chicken, roast pork and char siew. Shown here is their roast chicken rice with added roast pork and char siew.
The roast chicken has tender and juicy meat with a nicely flavoured chicken skin. The char siew is nice too, with a slightly sweet taste and tender meat. Likewise, the roast pork has tender meat and has a nice crispy and crunchy skin. Personally, I think the roast pork is the nicest among the three options. Don’t get me wrong, all three are nice.
With the meat is a plate of fragrant rice and a bowl of nicely flavoured soup with a mild ginger taste. There is also a bowl of char siew sauce that you can dip the meat into or mix with rice. It has a nice sweet flavour and it goes really well with the roast chicken. Give it a try, it is nice.
If you are greedy like me, don’t choose. Just go ahead and order all three. You won’t regret it. It is definitely a very likeable and hearty meal.
