Tutu Kueh

Tutu Kueh is a traditional Singapore snack that is modified from Fujian’s steamed cake “sung kueh” (松糕). It is made much smaller to almost bite size with coconut or peanuts filling. The name “Tu Tu” came from the sound of charcoal heated steamers that were originally used to made this snack.

Comes in a choice of either crushed peanuts or sweeten coconut shavings for its filling, this Tutu Kueh has generous portions of fillings with a soft steamed crust. It is a tough choice to choose which filling to go for as both fillings are equally good. Most customers just go for an assortment of both.

As Tan’s Tu Tu Coconut Cake are the ones who started it all in Singapore, it is very popular with in the know crowd of locals and expats. Their Tutu Kuehs are all freshly made and steamed on the spot according to what you have ordered. A minor detail that is often overlooked, they are still following the tradition of using a piece of pandan leave for its backing! Be prepared for a half hour wait easily.
