Curry Rice

Jing Shu Shi is a hugely popular stall selling Hainanese curry rice with an assortment of dishes to choose from. Shown here are: crispy pork chop, sweet sour pork, potato, peanuts and ikan bilis stacked on top of a plate of curry rice.

Let’s start with the curry sauce. This Hainanese curry is mildly spicy and mildly sweet. Tastes rather good in my opinion. The sweet sour pork is rather decent. Tender and decent tastes. It would have be lovely if it is crispy. Likewise the potatoes tastes decent. Lightly fried outside and soft inside. As for the peanuts and ikan bilis, it is good. Crispy and crunchy with a nice mild sweet taste. The highlight here is the crispy pork chop. It is very thinly sliced and fried until it is crispy. It has a very nice five spice flavour to its crispy crust. Definitely one of the best crispy pork chop I’ve had. Highly recommend that you order extras to snack on. Absolutely wonderful.
