Chendol.

Makan Melaka offers several chendol options. The traditional chendol comes with slivers of green pandan jelly, while additional choices includes red bean, corn and durian.

The chendol has nice balance of coconut milk and gula melaka flavours. The green pandan jelly has a light pandan taste. The red bean is soft, the sweet corn is crunchy, and the durian puree has a mildly sweet taste.

The chendol is refreshingly nice, especially on a warm day.

Nasi Lemak.

Makan Melaka also offers nasi lemak with a selection of mains and sides.

There are a few mains options available, including the ayam goreng berempah which is tender and meaty with a pleasantly flavoured skin. Another choice is the ayam masak merah, which is moist and meaty and has a soft juicy skin. It is glazed with a sauce that has a hint of spicy, sweet and savoury notes. The ayam masak merah tastes good! Beef rendang is also available as an option. The tender and meaty chunks of beef are cooked in a rendeng sauce that is flavourful with a rich blend of spices. It tastes good too.

For the sides, the fried egg has a soft runny yolk and crispy sides. The quail eggs are served in a spicy sambal sauce with onion bits. The ikan bilis is airy and crispy with a slight savoury taste. The begedil has a soft and flavourful potato filling with a slightly crispy egg coating.

The different mains and sides are served along with a portion of rice that is firm, fluffy and flavourful. The rice is topped with crispy dried shrimp sambal, which provides a lovely boost of flavours. Included on the side is a dollop of intense dried shrimp flavoured chilli paste with a mild tint of sweetness.

The nasi lemak is satisfying good!
