Char Siew, Siu Yuk Rice

Poh Chan Kee Roasted is a siu mei stall selling the usual assortment of roast meats. Seen above is their char siew and siu yuk rice with a sunny side egg added, with my special request of extra fatty and burnt char siew.

The char siew is fat and charred just like I’ve requested for. The char siew slices are soft and juicy with a sweet taste that is somewhat similar to a lap cheong. It is nice. The siu yuk has a nice layer of crispy and crunchy skin with juicy and soft savoury tasting meat. Very nice!

The slices of roast meats are stacked on a plate of rice with sweet char siew sauce added. An optional sunny side egg with watery yolk is added. Served with optional chilli sauce on the side, the watery type with a nice limey and garlicky taste that goes well with the roast meats. This is definitely a likeable meal for me. Thumbs up.
