Mee Pok Soup

Tai Wah Pork Noodle has a simple menu, just bak chor mee in either soup or dry versions, with a choice of mee pok or mee kia. The soup version of mee pok is shown in the above photo.

The bak chor mee includes pork slices, liver slices, minced pork, pork meatballs, dumpling, pieces of crispy fried sole fish and a lump of seaweed. These are served in a bowl of well seasoned soup that is not overly salty, accompanied by mee pok that is smooth, firm and springy.

The pork slices in the bak chor mee are soft and meaty, while the liver slices are soft and have a strong gamey taste. Just like the pork slices, the minced pork is soft and meaty as well. The pork meatballs are firm, meaty and flavourful. The dumpling has a soft skin wrapping a soft and meaty filling. The fried sole fish is crispy and adds a nice contrast in texture.

This serving of mee pok soup version tastes nice.
