Yong Tau Foo

Xiu Ji Ikan Bilis Yong Tau Fu is a hugely popular and well known stall serving yong tau foo. Seen above is their yong tau foo served with tossed mee hoon and an added fish cake.

The bowl of yong tau foo soup comes with a piece each of tau pok with fish paste filling, tofu with fish paste, fishball and tau kee. The tofu has nice bean flavours and the tau pok is soaking with the nice flavours of the light flavourful soup. The fish paste in both the tau pok and tofu is soft and smooth. Likewise for the fishball, soft and smooth with nice fish flavours. As for the tau kee, it is soft yet firm with nice savoury taste. Good!

The mee hoon is simply tossed with some soya sauce and oil, and has a dry texture. It is topped with savoury tasting crispy ikan bilis. The fish cake is an extra add on. It is soft, smooth and springy with a firm skin. Contains tiny bits of chilli and spring onion bits. Nice!

Served on the side is a saucer of chilli sauce. It has a limey and garlicky taste that goes well with both the yong tau foo pieces and as an added touch of flavours to the tossed mee hoon.

This serving of yong tau foo is tasty and truly enjoyable. Recommended!
