Yong Tau Foo

Ah Mei Yong Tau Foo offers a nice selection of yong tau foo pieces with choice of noodles in dry, soup or laksa. Above is with fishball, teochew fish cake, tau pok, fried dumpling, tau kee roll and flat tau kee with yellow noodles served dry. It is worth noting that the deep fried pieces are fried again to make them crispy.

The teochew fish cake has nice savoury flavours. It is crispy outside with soft and smooth fish paste inside. The fishball is soft and smooth as well, with nice taste of fish. Both are nice.

The tau pok is soft and contains a fish paste filling that is rather smooth. The fried dumpling has crispy skin with nice flavourful fish paste filling. The tau kee roll is crispy outside with nice savoury tasting fish paste inside. The flat tau kee is crispy and sandwiching a soft and spring fish paste. The deep fried pieces are rather likeable too.

As for the yellow noodles, it is simply tossed in oil. It is firm and springy but rather bland. You can add in sweet sauce and chilli sauce to your liking. On the side is a small bowl of flavourful soup, and a sweet sauce and chilli sauce dip.

This serving of yong tau foo is quite likeable.
