Wei Kee Boneless Braised Duck

does below average bland tasting braised duck with overly salty sauces and soup. Thumbs down.

Braised Duck Rice

Wei Kee Boneless Braised Duck does quite a poor braised duck rice that is overly salty. Shown here is their special duck rice that comes with slices of braised duck meat stacked on a plate of braised rice with braised tofu and braised peanuts on the side. Braised egg is missing as they ran out.

The braised duck meat is averagely moist and tender, however it is quite bland without any braising flavours. Likewise for the braised tofu and braised peanuts. Some braised sauce is pour onto them in an attempt to cover up their lack of flavours, however the braised sauce itself is salty and missing any true braising flavours. Fail.

The braised rice on its own tastes decent but with the sauce, it turns salty. The sambal chilli is spicy with a hint of dried shrimps flavours but is overly salty. Add this to your rice and the saltiness level goes way up. Finally the soup tastes of some braising flavourings but is lacking on any herbal tastes and as usual way too salty. Unless you like all things salty, it is a sorely lacking plate of duck rice and a thumbs down for me. The keyword here is salty. In my opinion, this is skippable.
