Nasi Lemak

168 Bedok South Nasi Lemak offers several nasi lemak sets, including the one featured above with a fried chicken cutlet, fried egg and ikan bilis with peanuts.

The rice has a fairly fragrant scent, is firm and tastes rather flavourful. The fried chicken cutlet is meaty and has a decent taste, but its crust and chicken skin are not crispy. However, the additional of some crispy fried flour bits is a nice touch. The fried egg is a bit oily, with soft whites and a solid yolk. The ikan bilis is crispy and the peanuts are crunchy, both of which have a savoury taste. A slice of cucumber and a dollop of chilli is provided on the side.

Overall, this serving of nasi lemak tastes decent.

Fried Mee Hoon

Fried mee hoon, fried kway teow and fried yellow noodles are available as well.

The fried mee hoon has a nice dry texture with a slightly sweet taste. The fried kway teow is a bit oily and dry, and its taste is just ok. The fried yellow noodles is a bit soft and has a mild alkaline taste, and it is also just ok. The fried mee hoon is definitely the best option here.

The otah is firm and spicy, but it has a slightly slimy texture which is not exactly to my liking.. On the other hand, the fried chicken wing is delicious! It has flavourful seasoning with nice crispy batter and skin covering its moist meat. The fried chicken wing is highly likeable and recommended.
