Fried Rice

Pak Lum Wok Master serves a variety of fried rice dishes. The examples above shows two of their options: double egg fried rice with an added chicken cutlet, and their breaded prawn fried rice with luncheon meat added. A bowl of vegetables soup is provided on the side.

The fried rice has a pleasant dry texture, is firm and flavourful. It contains slivers of egg, chopped spring onions and crab stick bits. The double egg fried rice is topped with a soft fried omelette, and is served with a side of cabbage and some ketchep sauce.

The chicken cutlet is meaty with a decently crispy breaded crust and tastes decent. The breaded prawn is the usual frozen type, with a crispy breaded crust and soft meat. The luncheon meat is the chicken meat type, and is ordinary.

Overall, the meats are decent and the fried rice is nice, especially the soft fried omelette.

Fried Kway Teow

The fried kway teow consists mainly of kway teow with a few strands of yellow noodles, wok fried with egg, vegetables and bean sprouts. Some see hum, prawns and fish cake are included.

The fried kway teow has a moist texture and is well flavoured. The see hum is small in size but tastes decent. The prawns are also small but taste fairly fresh. The fish cake is soft and has a fish taste.

The fried kway teow tastes not bad.

Fried Carrot Cake

The fried carrot cake uses soft cubes of radish cake pan fried with eggs, until its egg coating is crispy and golden brown. The black version has sweet black sauce added, giving it a sweet tint while still retaining its crispiness. This dish is topped with chopped spring onions and a dollop of savoury tasting chilli paste on the side. It is nice.

Fried Hokkien Mee

The fried hokkien mee is wok fried with a combination of mostly thick mee hoon and a few strands of yellow noodles, along with egg, bean sprouts and vegetables. These mixture is then simmered in a broth, resulting in a moist and soft texture. The fried hokkien mee has savoury flavours, and comes with small prawns and small sotong slices. Tastes not bad.

Fried Oyster Omelette

The fried oyster omelette has plump and juicy oysters served with a mixture of fried egg and starch. The fried egg is slightly crispy and has savoury flavours, and the starchy parts are thick and soft. The dijsh is served with a slightly limey tasting chilli sauce on the side. Unfortunately, this fried oyster omelette is too thick and starchy for my liking and tastes rather ordinary.

Seafood Mee Goreng

The seafood mee goreng uses yellow noodles wok fried with egg, vegetables and bean sprouts, with prawns and fish cake added. The fried noodles is firm and springy with a moist texture and tastes of ketchup. The prawns are small size but fairly fresh, and the fish cake is firm and springy. This mee goreng tastes alright.
